Neon Nuances

I’ve always had a particular fondness for neon and was ecstatic when the neon trend exploded on the runway. It’s such a fun way to give your outfit that the little pick me up and as summer rolls along, neons look great against a tan. Neons are also easy to dress up or down as the trend is colour based and you can incorporate it into just about any outfit. But neons can be intimidating for some people so below are a few tips on how to incorporate this trend.

Work it with neutrals: If you don’t want the jarring look of white or black against neons, neutrals are best. The nudes will make the colour really pop without

Keep it simple: Pick one neon shade to incorporate into your outfit so that you don’t become a glow stick groupie. Neon pink would be the easiest colour to as it’s not as harsh as yellow or orange.

Start small: Neons can be daunting if you are leaping into them so start small by using accessories, nail polish, bags and shoes. Again, choose one neon item, too many and you end up looking like a demented traffic cone.

We love the neon satchels from The Cambridge Satchel Company, Christopher Kane’s lace neon outfits and China Glaze’s Pool Side collection.

PS Neons are notoriously hard to photograph so imagine the images above as eye popping, crackle sizzling neon.
