Nail Files: MTJ Baby Doll

If you follow me on twitter or on tumblr, you’ll know that my nails are never naked. I just love buying nail polish and as I get older, I do realize that quality nail polish is the way to go. While I’m a fan of OPI, Essie and China Glaze, I’m always on the prowl for new brands that might offer different colours. After all, how many bottles of blue does one need? (According to my nail polish drawer, apparently 8.) When I heard MTJ has nail polishes, I was intrigued. I was unaware that the brand includes nail polishes its repertoire and was keen to try it out when the brand kindly sent me a sample of the Baby Doll colour. MTJ is the brainchild of celebrity make up artist Massimiliano Della Maggesa, otherwise known as Max The Joker (hence MTJ) and arrived on the Hong Kong make up scene only three months ago. So onto the polish. The consistency is quite thin, think Essie more than OPI and goes on very smoothly. The polish also dries quickly and it took no time at all for me to apply three coats for the swatch you see above. Of course, the real test is how long it chips. With a Seche Vite top coat, my nails are still chip free but then again, it’s only been three days. Stay tuned to see if it will make the week-long test.

MTJ is available at: The Philip George Salon, 23/F, 1 Duddell Street, Central, Hong Kong. Tel: 2524 3143
Price: HK$115
