Air Supply

Arts and culture guest blogger hkCultureGeek, Gillian Chu, is a Hong Kong raised Canadian who enjoys exploring the secret cultural spots around town. You can contact her at hkCultureGeek@hkFashionGeek.com.

Obviously we find it gross to be drinking dirty water, but have you ever thought of what damages it will cause to be breathing dirty air? The city's environmentalists, artists, and Daniel Wu fans gathered in IFC on Monday for a sneak preview of art work surrounding the theme of air pollution in Hong Kong. Clean Air Network organised an art exhibition cum auction with the help of Sothebys. Like Underwater Sculptures, here is another artistic contribution to global environmental awareness!

Ma Han's Breathing System  was prominently featured in every advertisement of the event, and I must admit it is quite eye-catching. We can also see another signature piece of Danny Lee, with his fluid sculpture.

The exhibition will be held for public viewing in IFC Oval Atrium until this coming Sunday, 27 March 2011, and the auction will be held in HKCEC between 1-4 April 2011. So if you happen to work in Central, or just on one of your regular shopping trips there, drop by and spare a thought on the quality of the air you are breathing in.
