What a Brat

Who doesn't love a good sausage party? (Groan... I know...) There aren't a huge number of places where you can cut into a really good juicy bratwurst, but Brat is certainly one of them. And starting June, going through till August, the porky purveyor is setting up a pop-up residence at The Landmark, a 1,000-square-foot space that inaugurates "Landmark Men", a series of select establishments that will have temporary stays at the luxury shopping mall.

If you ask me, it's about time The Landmark brought good ol' hearty food back to its basement. Cafe Landmark, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, Kiku et al are fine, fancy eateries, but I really do miss the days in which Pizza Hut held court in the basement. Brat is kitted out with a dine-in section and takeaway counter, and designed to resemble a modern butcher (it's all about meatpacking, right?) Besides your regular dogs, look for three new sausages created especially for this occasion: the Chipotle, Lemon Chicken and Bourbon. There will also be Brooklyn Brine Pickles for sale exclusively at this outlet only, featuring Whiskey Sour Pickles, NYC Deli-style Cucumbers and Damn Spicy Cucumbers.

I wish it were easier to write about this topic without coming up with adjectives that make it sound like you're a glorified porn writer. I feel like the guidance counselor from 10 Things I Hate About You. But if you can't beat 'em, join 'em -- so go stick a big steamy hunk of sausage in your mouth... mmmm, juicy.
