Burger Fever

Between the blistering sun and the squally storms, this summer is gearing up to be a particularly hot one. Now there’s another reason to pray for a cold front. According to the SCMP, starting today until the end of August, the Main Street Deli (located at Tsim Sha Tsui’s Langham Hotel) is hosting a “Beat the Thermometer” promotion. How it works is that every Monday and Tuesday, the New York-style diner will price four burgers on its menu according to the day’s temperature. So the price of the Blue Ribbon Beef Burger, Monster Beef Burger, Barbecue Bacon Burger and Veggie Prairie Burger will correspond to the 11am temperature at the Hong Kong Observatory. What’s the catch? The price is in Fahrenheit and not Celsius. Today’s weather at 11am is 28C, which translates to burger prices of HK$82.40. Not bad for burgers that are usually priced from HK$128 to HK$138.
