Back to the Future - Art Futures in ArtHK11

The annual highlight of Hong Kong's art community would have to be the Hong Kong International Art Fair, and this year is no different. Taking place on 26-29 May 2011 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, it is the ultimate regional art event that draws worldwide attention.

My attention this year is drawn towards the fair's Art Futures section, featuring emerging artists represented by the top new galleries around the globe. This amazing piece created by Tomas Espina reminds me of the artwork sold in the Clean Air Auction a while back.

Yang Yongliang's creative design combined the traditional Chinese painting with contemporary scenery, which is rather innovative and interesting. The Art Futures section have been around since 2009, and this year ArtHK11 had decided to expand this dynamic section of their fair to provide us with an unique opportunity to experience the upcoming generation of international artists and galleries.

This masterpiece by Adraine Wachholz is mystical, embodying the spirit of Lord of the Rings. There is so much to take away from this incredible fair, so make sure you get your tickets via www.hkticketing.com before 20 May 2011 to enjoy the buy-one-get-one-free offer!
