Really really excited for the opening of Le Salon in Hysan Place, which is, according to the press release, the "Hipster Hub of the Century". Hm, Yardbird called, they want their title back. Anyway. Whether you're a hipster or just a regular human being, you'll appreciate the food at this croissanterie-slash-bistro. For now let's just talk about the croissants, which are available along with coffee from the restaurant's shop front, separate from the dining room proper. There are four types: chocolate, chestnut, caramel and tiramisu, and it hardly matters which you order, they're all pretty freaking good, and served in little paper cones. They all have stuffing, but retain that flaky, crispy exterior as well as a buttery interior. Pretty much a heart attack in a disposable wrapper.
Le Salon Restaurant et Croissanterie is at Shop No. 1302, 13/F, Hysan Place, 500 Hennessy Road, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong. Reservations: 2115 3328.
