No Bones About It
When you come across a jewellery brand called Bones and Feathers Collective, I suppose you're inclined to think of items inspired by Native American motifs -- you know, vibrant headdresses, human or animal sacrifices, possibly cult-like tendencies... actually the line, founded just last year by Natalie Mauro and Cole Morrall, does find influences in that culture, but also in their combined multi-American background. Natalie is a Midwest girl, Cole is from Hawaii, and both lived in New York City before heading west for LA, where the label was founded and the the pieces are made.
Amid the strands of necklaces you'll find a touch of the macabre, bones and teeth and such, actually wax castings of animal vertebrae and human teeth then dipped in melted bronze bullet casings, variously threaded with metallics and wrapped in turquoise. Favourites include the multi-cylinder and fox necklace and the snake stud earrings. Check out the shop here.
