Edible Jewels

Food guest blogger hkLifestyleGeek visits The Lounge and give us her thoughts.

Qeelin fans who love Bobo the diamond-studded panda, or the curves of the Wulu, or the goldfish Qin Qin can have a taste of the Sino-French brand at The Lounge in the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong until the end of November.

The jewellery brand has teamed up with the hotel to create a Qeelin-themed afternoon tea that looks and tastes delicious.

Executive pastry chef Richard Long was inspired by Qeelin's vision to bring together the essence of China's cultural heritage with distinct French craftsmanship and has created some western pastries with an Asian twist.

Some of the tempting highlights include the Qin Qin pistachio chocolate financier, a combination of chocolate and finely chopped almonds, topped with a white chocolate goldfish, and the Bo Bo pineapple lemongrass shot, which is tangy pineapple with a crispy crumble.

The Wulu breton with raspberry cream features the berry mousse encapsulated in a chocolate shell on a shortbread cookie and topped with a chocolate shaped like the outline of a wulu. We also liked the orange ginger choux, a mini chocolate crumble with orange and ginger highlights, and don't miss the Manjari 64 percent cocoa brownie with a hint of passion fruit.

The "Qeelin at the Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong Afternoon Tea" is HK$328 for one or HK$626 for two, as well as coffee, tea or hot chocolate. The tea includes a souvenir that can be redeemed at the Qeelin boutique with a chance to win a Qeelin Lucky 12 gold and diamond bracelet worth HK$10,800, a 90-minute signature treatment at The Ritz-Carlton Spa by ESPA worth HK$2,090 or a Qeelin leather card holder worth HK$1,000.
