Given that it’s been around for a while, I asked a therapist there about their clientele when I was at the salon the other day and interestingly, she says most of their clients tend to be expats. Then she lets drop that it’s not because us Asians don’t groom ourselves but more that bikini waxes aren’t really necessary as we tend to have less hair down there. For waxing virgins, the cute graphic after the cut show Strip’s waxing options.
So anyway, I was offered a trial of their new IPL machines which work by emitting pulses of intense light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigments in the follicles and converted to heat which loosens the hair and disables the cells responsible for hair growth. I was told that it would be painless. While I scoffed at that, to my surprise, when the cool gel was applied to my forearm and the therapist pulsed me, I really couldn’t feel anything more than a warm heat. Apparently, it’s gentler than laser, just as effective and in the long run, cheaper than getting waxes.
During this month, Strip has partnered up with MISCHA where there will be a daily competition to give away as MISCHA travel clutch, complimentary clutches if you opt for the IPL treatment as well as a HK$100 discount simply by showing your MISCHA bag to the staff at Strip.
