Review: G7 Private Dining

As you can probably see, since going on sabbatical, I've been able to schedule lots of long overdue catch ups with friends and families hence the prolific amount of food reviews. My godsisters and I have been talking about doing a girly night out at G7 for ages since she loves the food there and I finally got a chance to check it out now that I'm on holiday and have time again!

Being directionally challenged, I ended up in Arbuthnot Road where the back entrance had a gate and a sign saying G7 thinking that was where I was supposed to go. Thankfully, a super nice waiter came up and brought me through the back entrance and it was only after dinner that I realised the road I always thought was Lower Albert Road was actually Glenealy. (Yeah, I was not kidding about my total lack of direction.)

While the menu offered a wine pairing option, we decided to pair everything with bubbles which is never a bad way to go. We started with the Antipasti Fourplay- fresh burrata, semi dried cherry tomato, pesto; pan seared scallop; celery, red delicious apple, chive oil; Copa ham, marinated Olives. Yummy bites.

We then had the sweet potato soup, preserved lemon and confit lamb. I loved the flavour contrast between the lamb and sweet potato.

This was the Basil lasagna, San Marzano Tomato, black olives and Parmesan. Felt more like a ravioli skin with a filling on top than a lasagna but was yummy nonetheless.

Suckling pig, pear, rucula, masala sauce. Nicely done with tender meat and crispy skin.

Australian grass fed bone-in prime rib, crispy bone marrow, jus. Highlight of the meal. The meat was ok but the bone marrow was to die for. Yums!

Grape pecorino cheese, caramelized onions and truffle. This is MY kind of dessert. Well I love sweets too but give me cheese, truffle and sweet onions and my reaction will always be "omg I’m in heaven!"

Rosemary panda cotta, orange and passion fruit. Decent dessert but can’t compare to my love of the previous cheese dish.

The 7 course set menu is HK$880 + 10% with an extra HK$120 for the beef option per person.
