Geek Peek: Kristina Karlsson from kikki.K

I love stationery. There's something so fun about having cute fun pieces to write with or writing on beautiful notebooks. When I heard that Swedish design stationery brand kikki.K opened their first shop, I decided to ask founder Kristina Karlsson her thoughts on HK and what she spent her prize money from a business award on.

Hong Kong Fashion Geek: What is on your lust list?
Kristina Karlsson: A renovation at my Swedish kitchen! I absolutely love cooking and would like some more space, to learn how to play the piano properly and a ring by Swedish designer Efva Attling.

HKFG: What’s your favourite thing about Hong Kong?
KK: It would have to be the beautiful food! I’m an absolute foodie, and love discovering new places to eat wherever I’m travelling. I also love the endless options for shopping, which is why I’m so excited to have kikki.K in Harbour City!

HKFG: Tell us your secret ambition?
KK: I’m not sure it’s much of a secret now, but I cannot wait to have beautiful kikki.K stores in all my favourite cities right around the world! It’s so exciting to have opened in Hong Kong – now I can’t wait for London, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Copenhagen, Tokyo… it feels like we’re just getting started!

HKFG: Your ultimate indulgence food or go-to food when you’re stressing out?
KK: I don’t really have a go-to food when I’m stressed, but perhaps my little indulgence which I absolutely love – Wine & Cheese. There’s nothing like enjoying a beautiful glass of wine and some delicious cheese!

HKFG: What is your biggest investment purchase?
KK: I absolutely love Swedish design, so I spend on beautiful Scandinavian designer pieces. I’ll always remember one of my favourites - my Arne Jacobsen Egg Chair – because I spent the prize money from a business award on it many years ago. It was such a lovely reward.

HKFG: What is your worst nightmare?
KK: My worst nightmare is anyone being sick. Life is short & health is so, so important.

HKFG: Last thing you think about before going sleep?
KK: I think about all the things I’m grateful for. My family, my home, the warmth, the bed, my children being asleep, a business that I love. The list is endless; there are so many things to be grateful for.

HKFG: What is your favourite phone app?
KK: One of my favourites would have to be Instagram – there are so many inspiring people to follow, and it’s also a great way to create a visual record of special trips and adventures while you’re on the go. I absolutely love printing my Instagram photos too (with Create with kikki.K – create.kikki-k.com). You can check out the kikki.K Instagram account for lots of inspiration too – it’s @kikkiK_loves.
