Nicole Richie for Macy's Impulse

Even when she was only known as Paris Hilton's less famous friend on The Simple Life, I loved Nicole Richie. So much spunk in that one, in spite of the weird drinking issues and questionable dress sense. How far we have come since those days. An eating disorder, a marriage and some babies later, we have the new and improved Richie, who's got enough fashion cred to earn herself a collabo-collection with Macy's Impulse.

Macy's celebrity collections aren't nearly as coveted as H&M's or even Target's, but there's a solid line-up of guest designers who've worked on capsule sets for the department store, including Giambattista Valli, Doo.Ri and Alberta Ferretti -- basically, popular dressmakers who don't have the same cult following of, say, Margiela or Lanvin. Richie, who popularized the whole boho-waif look and has cashed in via Winter Kate (her clothing line) and House of Harlow (her jewellery label), is in a nice position to widen her audience with this Macy's collection.

And though we only have a few shots to look at right now, I think she's in the right place. Her own collections represent her own aesthetic well; for Macy's she's taken a step further and given her look a little more edge. Loving the leather sleeve tee right now, and can't wait to see more. And of course, it's nice that when you're a celeb you can model your own collection.
