Couture Redux: Giambattista Valli

It's almost a surprise that it took so long for Giambattista Valli to be invited to show at Couture Fashion Week. His RTW has always fallen in the realm of demi-couture, and his imagination has tended to run to the big, flouncy and layered. He's like the Georgia O'Keefe of fashion in some ways: everything sort of is a flower, and is sort of also something else, but is always stunning.

And so in some ways it's almost like his couture stuff isn't as fantastical as you'd wish, because it's basically what he's been doing all along, maybe amped up ever so slightly, but utilizing a lot of the same techniques and shapes. I don't know, this sort of reminds me of Gucci Fall in silhouette with a dash of Viktor and Rolf when they did all those awesome white shirtdresses. But none of that stops it from being freaking beautiful.

Oh, and the DIY blogs are going to go nutso over those pumps. Pearls, glue, bridal pumps. There, I saved you a Google search.

  1. Love the shoulders on the dress, they remind me of meringues...yam!

The shoes are gorgeous as well, but knowing how I am when I walk, they won't stay white for long ;)
